Not a campaign.

Not a loyalty program.

A new engine.

01
The Problem

A retailer with customers —but no owned relationship.

The case centered on a structural business challenge: NRG had scale, stores, and brand recognition, but customer relationships remained mediated through malls, paid advertising, and third-party platforms.

At the same time, Gen Z discovery behavior was shifting toward creators, peers, communities, and social commerce. The challenge was not simply to improve marketing — it was to design a new digital business.

02
The Venture

One ecosystem.Four interconnected capabilities.

LOOP was designed as a social style platform where Gen Z creators, shoppers, and resellers interact inside an ecosystem connected to NRG's existing retail infrastructure.

01

Style Feed

A personalized discovery experience where creator content is surfaced around individual taste.

02

Shop the Look

Creator inspiration connects directly to commerce, allowing users to move from discovery to purchase.

03

LOOP Resale

A peer-to-peer resale layer extends the customer relationship beyond the first purchase.

04

Trend Intelligence

Historical retail data and real-time platform signals create a new source of demand intelligence.

03
Product Experience

Three user journeys.One ecosystem.

LOOP connects discovery, creation, commerce, and resale so each participant contributes to the value of the broader ecosystem.

04
Technology Engine

The dataflywheel.

The strategic advantage was not simply adding AI to a shopping experience. LOOP was designed to create a continuous feedback loop between consumer behavior, creator activity, commerce, resale, and supply-chain decisions.

LOOP
DATA
FLYWHEEL

Behavioral Data

Scrolls, saves, and purchases improve personalization.

Creator Signals

Content engagement reveals which aesthetics drive action.

Supply Response

Demand signals can inform merchandising and supply decisions.

Resale Signals

Secondary-market behavior adds another view of product demand.

More signals → better relevance → more engagement → more commerce → more signals
05
Business Model

Designing foreconomic viability.

The venture model explored multiple revenue mechanisms so LOOP could operate as a business rather than a marketing expense.

Commerce Commission

Revenue generated from LOOP-driven retail purchases.

Resale Facilitation

A transaction fee on peer-to-peer resale activity.

Creator Pro

A modeled premium subscription for power creators.

Trend Intelligence

Demand intelligence designed to create value for retail and supply-chain decisions.

Revenue mix, pricing, GMV, subscriber, and breakeven figures in the case were modeled assumptions and projections, not realized commercial results.

06
Go-to-Market

Launch through the ecosystem, not through paid acquisition alone.

PHASE 1Months 1–6

Seed the Creator Network

Recruit micro-creators, activate flagship stores as content touchpoints, and build initial supply-side participation.

PHASE 2Months 7–12

Ignite Social Loops

Expand creator participation, introduce resale, and use community mechanics to drive repeat engagement.

PHASE 3Months 13–36

Scale the Flywheel

Use growing behavioral and commerce signals to strengthen personalization and demand intelligence.

These phases represent the proposed case strategy rather than executed market traction.

07
Defensibility

Build on assetsa startup cannot easily replicate.

The venture was designed around NRG's existing structural advantages rather than treating LOOP as a standalone consumer app.

15 Years

Historical transaction data

450 Stores

Potential fulfillment and community nodes

8 Countries

Established supplier network

Network Effect

Creators attract shoppers; shoppers attract creators

Commerce Loop

Discovery → purchase → resale → repurchase
